The Knights of the Auto Order Proudly Present: The Auto Body Estimate: Vol. II, #108, June 2012
So I'm watching a parade with Peter, who at the time is not quite three. He's close to the action, in the front of the busy parade crowd, holding his big brother's hand. His grandma is behind him, and I'm behind her, so it's a bit tough to communicate. Nevertheless, I'm completely swept up in the spirit of sharing the excitement with him.
As one particularly awesome float goes by I'm yelling: "Peter! Look! Choo choo! Choo choo!" And Peter turns around to show me a huge smile on his tiny face. A few minutes later I'm yelling "Pirates!" and then, just after the big bad wolf goes by, I'm yelling: "Pigs! Pigs!" Then I turn my head in the opposite direction just in time to see two very unhappy police officers approaching me.
So I'm in a jail cell with some "Occupy Minneapolis" protesters. I'm trying to lighten things up, and I'm suggesting that maybe they reconsider the name of the movement, because to anyone who's ever flown on a plane, the concept of "occupied" is kind of a downer.
Just as things get turn a little ugly, I'm awakened by the sound of Minnesota Public Radio. Unfortunately I'm driving my car to work in rush hour traffic. Worse yet, I'm wearing my bunny slippers and pajamas.
Ever have one of those days?
They say that laughter is the best medicine, but they never say what the diagnosis is. Regardless, I promise you'll get a few cheap laughs if you join us at O'Gara's on Thursday, June 28, even if it's just at the sight of all of our knobby white knees now that it's shorts season. We'll play two sets, starting at 8:00 PM sharp, so you could catch the whole show and still get to bed early. I hope you can join us!
Best wishes and love,
Scott Yoho, Grand Pooh Bah, Knights of the Auto Order
